Soprano Constanze Xue, a native of Chengdu, China, holds a Master’s degree in Music Performance from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. She is currently studying with Prof.ssa. Patrizia Patelmo at the Conservatorio di Milano, specialising in Bel Canto and Italian opera. From 2022 to 2024 she took private tuition with American soprano Barbara Bonney, focusing on Mozart and Richard Strauss operas as well as Lieder by Schubert, Strauss, and Schumann.

 

Her recent and forthcoming engagements include Susanna (Le Nozze di Figaro, February 2026) and Michaëla (Carmen, June 2026) with ADADS in Milan. In 2025 she performed Cio-cio-san (Madama Butterfly) and Annina (La Traviata) with ADADS. Previous roles with the company include Musetta (La Bohème), Oscar (Un Ballo in Maschera), Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Norina (Don Pasquale), Giannetta (L’elisir d’amore), Barbarina and Susanna (Le Nozze di Figaro), and Despina (Così fan tutte). In 2023 she sang Susanna with Bolzano Lirica Opera.

 

In 2023, Constanze performed in seven concerts with the Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Eduard Topchjan, including a nationwide tour of China. She is a prize winner of the Associazione Giacomo Lauri Volpi and gave a recital in Rome in 2024. In 2019 she was the soloist in the world premiere of British composer Andrew Webb-Mitchell’s tone poem Night of Sevens with the New Cologne Philharmonic Orchestra under Volker Hartung, which toured ten cities across China.

 

Her broader opera repertoire includes Pamina (Die Zauberflöte), Marzelline (Fidelio), Mimì (La Bohème), Sophie (Der Rosenkavalier), Nannetta (Falstaff), Ännchen (Der Freischütz), and Der Hirt (Tannhäuser).

She demonstrated a vibrant, well-projected tone and a clear ability to communicate character and emotion, navigating the stylistic demands of both dramatic and comic roles with confidence.
